Throughout his career, Charles Edin has focused particularly on natural resources, such as oil and gas. As an attorney in North Dakota, he stays informed about the current rapid development in the state's oil industry and has become involved in litigation regarding the Abandoned Mineral Statute. Charles Edin also handles negotiations involving oil and gas leases, mineral conveyances, joint operating agreements, mineral ownership disputes, and Surface Damage Protection Agreements. With extensive knowledge ranging from required documentation to the ecological controversy over fracking, he offers clients legal advice based on nearly 30 years of experience.

Charles Edin currently maintains his practice in Bismark, North Dakota. There he offers counsel in areas such as personal injuries, property disputes, automobile accidents, insurance claims, defective products, and class actions. He also continues to manage insurance, oil and gas litigation, his focus while serving in his previous position as a partner with Zuger, Kirmis & Smith. Prior to this, he spent time with Westex Petroleum Corporation as an independent oil and gas landman.

Admitted to the bar in North Dakota in 1984, Charles Edin also received acceptance to the eighth circuit of the United States Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota. Additionally, he has served the state of North Dakota in the office of Special Assistant Attorney General. In this position, he represented the State Board of Higher Education and other plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit of Fuchs et al. vs. TransTexas Gas Corporation.

Alongside his legal work, Charles Edin has become a noted writer. He co-authored the North Dakota Mineral Title Standards for the State Bar Association of North Dakota and has published articles in professional journals such as the North Dakota Law Review. He has also written for Oil and Gas Law of North Dakota, a publication of the Institute for Energy Development.
