A dynamic criminal and civil attorney with a long history of consumer and environmental protection, Dani Jo Handell currently practices law in Las Vegas. Her experience as a deputy district attorney in California resulted in the successful prosecution of numerous corporations that were committing fraud and those that were potentially harming the public through violations of environmental law. Dani Jo Handell’s lobbying efforts on behalf of the California District Attorneys Association resulted in allowances for more accurate store scanners, a decrease in unfair competitive practices, and the prosecution of white collar criminals.

Dani Jo Handell’s most recent position was as Executive Director for legal and regulatory affairs for KeyOn Communications, a major company with broadband and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) operations in 20 states. She coordinated FCC licensing, handled all SOX compliance issues, and was responsible for SEC filings and FINRA matters. She also handled the application for a federal stimulus grant of $10.2 million.

In addition to her aforementioned work in consumer protection, Handell was a litigation and case-management attorney at one of California’s top law firms, Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton in Los Angeles. Furthermore, she served as an internal attorney for prominent corporations.

Preceding her long professional career as advocate and counselor, Handell earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley. She subsequently received her Juris Doctor from San Francisco’s Hastings College of the Law. While there, she was a note-and-comment editor at the Hastings Law Journal. Handell has been a member of the California State Bar since 1987.
