An innovative health care administrator and a caring physician, Dr. Warren Licht is the Director of the Medicine Service Line in Manhattan, with the North Shore-LIJ Health System. In this role, Dr. Licht maintains responsibility for overseeing the growth of the health care system’s primary care services and is responsible for the primary care community based practices, in Manhattan. Dr. Licht also serves as the Director for Medical Affairs for the Lenox Hill HealthPlex.

Dr. Warren Licht helped to oversee numerous developments during his tenure at New York Downtown Hospital. Under his direction as Chief Medical Officer, New York Downtown Hospital opened the adult Wellness and Prevention Center in 2011. In the previous years, Dr. Warren Licht helped to initiate a range of projects to improve the hospital’s programs and infrastructure, including an expansion of its physical therapy services and an increase in the number of operating room suites. Dr. Licht also introduced new, integrated electronic health record (EHR) systems that improved the method in which patient information was distributed and helped to unify care. Known for his patient-oriented approach to medicine, he received a Distinguished Physician Award in 2011.

Dr. Warren Licht possesses an M.D. from the Georgetown University School of Medicine, as well as a master’s degree in physiology from the same institution. After completing an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, he was appointed Chief Medical Resident at New York Downtown Hospital. Upon completion of his chief residency, he became an associate, then full Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program.
