Jerry Yu, KPMG, Senior Associate
Jerry Yu is an accomplished Senior Associate at KPMG, one of the Big 4 accounting firms, providing Audit, Advisory and Tax services.  At KPMG, Jerry is responsible for tax compliance and consulting for high net worth individuals and middle market businesses, and is well-versed in tax planning techniques for business operations, ownership successions, and estate planning.
Prior to his work at KPMG, Yu achieved an extensive legal background and education.  Yu received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley with honors.  He attended the University of Washington School of Law in Seattle, where he earned his LL.M. in taxation, an additional LL.M. in Asian and Comparative (International) law, as well as his Juris Doctorate.  During his educational career, he was invited to join the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, the Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honors Society, and the Golden Key International Honors Society.  Yu also received many awards exemplifying a diverse range of skills.  For example, Yu was awarded 1st place in the 20th Annual Chinese Language Speech Contest, 3rd Place in Original Oratory at the Stanford University Invitational, and 1st place in various Lincoln-Douglas debate tourneys.
Yu gained professional experience when he worked as a Law Clerk at various law firms after law school, clerked as a Summer Associate at Riddell Williams Graham and James, and presided as a Citation Hearing Officer at the University of Washington Parking Violations Office.  Yu eventually took his advisory skills to the taxation arena when he first donated his time under the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistant) program with the IRS.
When Yu is not working, he is helping students with the SATs, playing the piano for elderly patrons with Alzheimers at various assisted living homes, and otherwise volunteering for different causes.  Currently, he is involved with the Santa Clara Valley Humane Society, the Children’s Discovery Museum, and the Tianjin Institute for the Rehabilitation of Disabled Orphans, where he is the Director and Executive Producer of the annual Charity Christmas Concert.
